Account safety tips.

We have a range of technologies to keep your accounts, information, and money safe, but there are a few things you can do in your everyday life to stay protected from threats both on and offline.

Cards and accounts.

  • Monitor your account transaction history. You can do this through the App, Internet Banking or your account statements. What to do if you see an unfamiliar transaction in your account
  • Keep your contact and personal details updated. This helps ensure you continue to receive important account notifications and prevents sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands. You can update your details via the App, Internet Banking or at a branch
  • Set a strong password. Setting a strong, unique password for Internet Banking and changing it regularly is key to keeping your accounts safe. Create a strong password
  • Make your PIN hard to guess. Don’t choose a sequence of numbers that is easy to work out, like your birthdate, name, or telephone number
  • Do not share your password or PIN with anyone. Avoid writing them down anywhere or letting anyone watch you enter them. Remember: Beyond Bank will never ask you to share your password or PIN
  • Alert us if your card or device is lost or stolen. Reporting your card or device as lost or stolen can help prevent unauthorised transactions. What to do if your card is lost or stolen
  • Tell your bank if you are travelling. This will help your bank monitor your transactions and prevent them from being incorrectly flagged as suspicious due to the change in location. Notify us of your travel plans via the App or send a secure message
  • Never provide personal information to anyone who contacts you unexpectedly by phone, SMS or messaging app. If in doubt, hang up and call us back on 13 25 85

ATM security.

  • Before you begin, check your surroundings
  • Stand directly in front of the ATM and shield the keypad from view with your hand so no-one can see you enter your PIN
  • Don’t hold up, count, or display the money you have withdrawn while you are still at the ATM. Put the notes safely away and count it later.

Internet Banking.

  • When accessing Internet Banking, type beyondbank.com.au directly into your browser. Don’t click links that suggest they take you to Internet Banking from an email, SMS, or pop-up window – we will never ask you to do this
  • Always log out properly when you’re done using Internet Banking, especially if you are using a shared or public computer
  • Install and maintain antivirus software on your computer.

Mobile Banking.

  • Always download the Beyond Bank App from official app stores for Apple and Android
  • Make sure you’re using the most recent version of the App. To check, search for the Beyond Bank App in your device’s app store. If there is a more recent version available, you’ll see an option to update.

Tips for staying safe online.

  • Avoid public Wi-Fi. While public Wi-Fi is convenient, it is difficult to tell whether the network is secure, so it is wise to be careful. If you do need to connect to public Wi-Fi, never shop or bank online
  • Be careful with what you share on social media. Scammers and cybercriminals often look to social media to collect personal information for identity theft and fraud. Don’t accept friend requests from people you don’t know, check your profile privacy settings, and be mindful of what you post online
  • Know the signs of a scam or fraud. Visit our security hub to learn about the common types of scams and fraud, including the warning signs to watch out for.

Beyond Bank will never:

  • call and ask you to transfer funds to another account or bank
  • contact you to ask for any account or personal details in an unsolicited text or email
  • ask for online banking passcodes or passwords over email, text or phone
  • ask for remote access to your devices
  • threaten you to take immediate action on an issue.

Remember - Stop, Check, Protect.

Three simple steps to keep us all safe from scams.

  1. Stop.
If a call, email, or text feels wrong – stop and take a breath. A genuine organisation wouldn’t pressure you to act immediately. If you’re not sure, say ‘no’, hang up, or delete.
  2. Check.
Do you know who you are talking to? Verify the details first and only contact organisations using contact information that you find yourself from their official website or app.
  3. Protect.
Act quickly and contact your bank if you notice unusual activity or if a scammer gets your money or information. Report it to Scamwatch and help keep others safe.
